The best cocktail bars in Bangkok now rank among the best anywhere. On Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, announced in July, Bangkok had more entries in the top 50 than any other city: eight bars, with four more on the 51 to 100 list. Many of them are tucked into shophouses, upstairs rooms and hotel corners, speakeasy-style, which is half the fun of finding them.

This guide lists every Bangkok bar on the 2026 rankings, where it is and what to expect, plus speakeasies and neighbourhood bars worth a detour. For tastings, guest shifts and bar takeovers with dates, see food and drink events and nightlife listings.

Last checked: October 2026. Rankings are from the official Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 list. Prices are from recent menus and exclude service and VAT unless stated.

The top tier, bar by bar

Dry Wave Cocktail Studio (No. 4)

The highest-ranked bar in Thailand opened in 2024 on the second floor of the Sodality building on Thonglor Soi 13. It's a small, studio-like room run by bartender Supawit "Palm" Muttarattana, known for precise, flavour-led drinks with Thai ingredients. Seats are limited, so book. Nearest station: BTS Thong Lo, then a taxi up the soi.

Bar Us (No. 6)

From the team behind Messenger Service, Bar Us on Sukhumvit Soi 26 describes itself as a "drinking room": the menu moves from light aperitifs to savoury, food-inspired cocktails and dessert-style drinks. Recent menu prices run roughly 480 to 680 THB. Its sister bar Lime by Us is next door. BTS Phrom Phong is the closest station.

Lennon's (No. 7)

A new entry this year, Lennon's is on the 30th floor of Rosewood Bangkok on Phloen Chit Road. The room looks like a mid-century recording studio and holds a library of more than 6,000 vinyl records. Cocktails riff on music and Thai flavours; signatures were recently about 550 THB. Hours have varied, so check before going. Connected to BTS Phloen Chit.

Bar Sathorn (No. 17)

The biggest climber on the 2026 list sits inside The House on Sathorn, an 1889 mansion that is part of W Bangkok. Expect neo-classical rooms, vinyl on the sound system and a menu drawn from the building's history. Recent prices: roughly 320 THB for a non-alcoholic cocktail to 450 THB. BTS Chong Nonsi is a short walk.

BKK Social Club (No. 20)

The grand bar at the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, styled like an Art Nouveau salon, with courtyards for cigars and champagne. Cocktails start around 550 THB and climb steeply for premium spirits. Dress smartly. Taxi from BTS Saphan Taksin.

Opium Bar (No. 25)

Above the Michelin-starred restaurant Potong on Vanich 1 Road in Chinatown, reached by a tiny lift through a former pharmacy building. Intimate and dark. MRT Wat Mangkon is about ten minutes' walk.

G.O.D (No. 31)

Genius on Drugs, from Niks Anuman-Rajadhon and Attaporn De-Silva, is a dim, graffiti-covered "cathedral of cocktails" with waistcoated bartenders and live piano. The address is on Soi Rammaitree in Pom Prap, at the edge of Chinatown. Average cocktail price is around the 500 THB mark.

Aqua Bar (No. 48)

The garden-style bar on the ground floor of the Anantara Siam on Ratchadamri Road, built around a square driftwood bar with water features and a resident DJ. Its menu is called "Potions of the Garden". BTS Ratchadamri is right outside.

Speakeasies and hidden bars

Bangkok loves a hidden entrance. These are on the 51 to 100 list or are long-running favourites:

  • Messenger Service (No. 69) is on the third floor of Baan Trok, a century-old townhouse near Yaowarat, with no sign at street level. It moved here from an out-of-town spot near the airport.
  • Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar (No. 76) is upstairs at 104 Maha Set Road in Bang Rak, above the restaurant 100 Mahaseth. Known for "resourceful" cocktails that use the whole ingredient.
  • Vesper (No. 56) on Convent Road, off Silom, is one of the city's longest-running serious cocktail bars, with a European bistro feel.
  • Firefly (No. 78) at the Sindhorn Kempinski is a jazz lounge with over 370 spirits.
  • Rabbit Hole on the main Thonglor road, between Soi 5 and Soi 7, is a three-floor bar behind an unmarked wooden door that turned ten this year. Drinks from around 440 THB plus service and VAT.
  • Tax in Chinatown builds drinks around edible insects, with a snack served alongside each cocktail. Not for everyone, but memorable.
  • The Speakeasy at Hotel Muse is the rooftop take, with 1920s styling.

Neighbourhood bars worth a detour

  • Iron Balls Distillery at Park Lane Ekkamai distils its own gin in a steampunk-style room.
  • F*nkytown, a Sarnies Group bar near Bar Us, sorts its cocktails by "funk" level.
  • Tep Bar on Soi Nana in Chinatown pairs Thai-inspired drinks with live traditional Thai music on many nights. It fills up, so arrive early.

Planning a cocktail crawl

Group bars by area: traffic makes cross-town hops slow.

  • Chinatown crawl: dinner on Yaowarat, then Opium, Messenger Service and G.O.D, all within a short walk or ride. Start from MRT Wat Mangkon.
  • Thonglor crawl: Dry Wave, Rabbit Hole and Iron Balls, linked by short taxis or motorbike taxis. Finish on the Octave rooftop.
  • Hotel bar evening: Aqua Bar, Lennon's and Firefly are all around Ratchadamri, Phloen Chit and Lang Suan.

Prices, booking and etiquette

  • Prices: most top bars charge roughly 400 to 700 THB per cocktail, plus 10% service and 7% VAT. Premium-spirit drinks go well above that.
  • Booking: essential for small rooms like Dry Wave, Opium and Lennon's on weekends. Many bars take bookings through their social pages or LINE.
  • Dress: smart casual. Hotel bars expect long trousers and closed shoes for men.
  • Guest shifts: visiting bartenders from abroad often take over these bars for a night. These sell out fast; watch nightlife events and the calendar.
