In this guide
The best rooftop bars in Bangkok are one of the city's real pleasures: a cold drink 60 floors up, the river turning orange at sunset and the skyline lighting up below. They range from world-famous (and priced to match) to relaxed hotel decks where a cocktail costs little more than at street level.
This guide covers the rooftops worth your evening in 2026, grouped by area, with dress codes, rough prices, the best time to arrive and what happens when it rains. For rooftop parties and DJ nights with dates, see nightlife events.
Last checked: October 2026. Prices are ranges from recent menus and listings and usually exclude 10% service and 7% VAT. Check before you go.
Rooftop basics
- Sunset in Bangkok falls between roughly 17:50 and 18:50 depending on the time of year. Arrive 30 to 45 minutes early for a rail spot, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Dress code: almost every hotel rooftop is smart casual. For men that usually means long trousers or smart shorts at a push, closed shoes, and no vests or sleeveless tops. Flip-flops get turned away at the famous ones. Sportswear is a gamble.
- Rain: the rainy season runs roughly May to October, with storms often in the late afternoon. Open-air bars close the outdoor deck when lightning is about; some reopen once it passes, others call it a night. Many have an indoor bar or lounge one floor down. If the forecast looks bad, pick a bar with a covered section and don't pay deposits you can't move.
- Age: 20 and over is common for bar floors, and some rooftops check ID at the lift.
- Booking: walk-ins work on weeknights at most places. For a sunset table on weekends, book or arrive early. Some bars, like Tichuca, don't take reservations at all.
Silom, Sathorn and the river
Sky Bar and Sirocco, lebua at State Tower
The golden dome on the 63rd floor of State Tower is the Bangkok rooftop most visitors have heard of, helped along by The Hangover Part II. Sky Bar is the curved bar at the edge; Sirocco is the restaurant beside it. Above it, Distil and Alfresco 64 continue the theme.
It is also the most expensive rooftop in town. Listings and recent visitors report cocktails anywhere from around 1,000 to 1,500 THB before service and VAT, and the dress code is strictly enforced: no shorts, flip-flops or sleeveless tops. Go once for the view, ideally right at sunset. BTS Saphan Taksin is a 5 to 10 minute walk.

Sky Beach, King Power Mahanakhon
The highest rooftop bar in the city sits on the 78th floor of the Mahanakhon tower, run by The Standard. Before about 19:00 you need a SkyWalk observation deck ticket to get up; after that, a cover charge applies (recently listed at 1,000 THB including one drink). Cocktails are listed at roughly 490 to 560 THB. It is easier to get a seat than at lebua and has a 360-degree view. BTS Chong Nonsi connects directly.
Vertigo and Moon Bar, Banyan Tree: closed until December
One of the city's classic open-air rooftops on the 61st floor is closed for renovation in late 2026. The hotel says Vertigo and Moon Bar reopen on 2 December 2026; other listings give late November. Check before planning a visit.
Also in Silom and Sathorn
- Bar.Yard on the 40th floor of the Kimpton Maa-Lai, near Lumphini, is a relaxed, plant-filled deck. Cocktails around 400 to 450 THB, with a daily early-evening happy hour.
- The Speakeasy at Hotel Muse (24th and 25th floors, Langsuan) has a 1920s look, a cigar lounge and DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. Cocktails around 460 to 520 THB.
- Scarlett on the 37th floor of the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G on Silom, with wine and happy hours.
- Yao, on the 32nd and 33rd floors of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, a quieter alternative with views over Silom.

Across the river
- ThreeSixty at Millennium Hilton, on the Thonburi bank, is a glass-walled jazz lounge on the 32nd floor with river views.
- Eagle Nest at Sala Rattanakosin, in the old town, looks straight across the river at Wat Arun. It is small, walk-in only and unpretentious, with cocktails listed around 380 THB. Arrive by 17:00 for a rail seat.
Thonglor and Ekkamai
Octave, Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit
Octave spreads over the 45th to 49th floors above Sukhumvit Soi 57, a short walk from BTS Thong Lo. The lower floor is open to all ages; the upper bar floors are 20 and over. Cocktails sit roughly in the 400 to 550 THB range. It is the best-value big-name rooftop in the city for many regulars, with 360-degree views and DJs later on. Book ahead for sunset.

Tichuca, T-One Building
On the 46th floor of an office tower on Sukhumvit Soi 40, a few minutes from BTS Ekkamai, Tichuca is known for its glowing "jellyfish tree" sculpture and jungle styling. It does not take reservations, so queues build after 18:00 on weekends. Cocktails are listed around 400 to 500 THB.
Lower Sukhumvit and Siam
- Above Eleven at Fraser Suites on Sukhumvit Soi 11 (33rd floor) serves Peruvian-Japanese food and has DJs later; a lively choice before a night on Soi 11.
- Spectrum at Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit (29th to 30th floors) near BTS Nana, a polished lounge with booths.
- Penthouse Bar + Grill at the Park Hyatt (34th to 36th floors) by BTS Phloen Chit has a moodier, partly indoor setting that works well in the rainy season.
- Red Sky and CRU at Centara Grand at CentralWorld (55th to 59th floors). Red Sky is the main bar; CRU, the champagne bar above it, is pricier. Walk from BTS Chit Lom or BTS Siam.
Price guide
These are typical cocktail prices before 10% service and 7% VAT, based on recent listings:
| Level | Rough cocktail price | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Relaxed | 300 to 450 THB | Eagle Nest, Bar.Yard happy hour, smaller hotel decks |
| Mid-range | 400 to 600 THB | Octave, Tichuca, The Speakeasy, Red Sky |
| Top end | 1,000 THB and up | Sky Bar at lebua |
Some bars have a minimum spend or a cover charge on busy nights or for the best tables. Ask when you arrive.
Getting the most from a rooftop night
- Combine with dinner nearby. Rooftop food is often the weakest part of the night. Eat in the neighbourhood and go up for drinks.
- Go on a weeknight if you want a rail spot without a fight.
- Check for events. Many rooftops host DJ sessions, ladies' nights and themed parties. Browse this weekend's nightlife or the calendar.
- Watch the weather. In the rainy season, look at the radar before you leave and pick a bar with a covered bar floor.
