HYROX Bangkok has turned the city into one of Asia's biggest hubs for fitness racing. The August 2026 edition at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center drew more than 20,000 athletes from over 60 countries, which organisers called the largest HYROX event yet held in Asia. And HYROX is only part of the story: DEKA has just arrived in Bangkok, Spartan is staging a world championship in Thailand, and obstacle racing has a growing following.

This guide covers the next HYROX Bangkok race, the other fitness and obstacle races in Thailand, and where to train in Bangkok. For confirmed dates, keep an eye on our HYROX page and the sports events listings.

HYROX Bangkok 2027: key facts

  • Dates: 11-14 February 2027.
  • Venue: BITEC (Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre), Bang Na.
  • Getting there: BTS Bang Na station on the Sukhumvit line, with a short walk via a skywalk.
  • Qualifier: Bangkok is a qualifying event for the 2027 HYROX World Championships in Hong Kong, scheduled for 10-13 June 2027.
  • Tickets: ticket details had not been published at the time of writing. Popular waves at previous Bangkok editions sold out, so sign up for alerts on the official HYROX site.

Entry fees vary by division and release phase; as a rough guide, solo entries for Asian HYROX events tend to cost a few thousand baht, with doubles and relays priced per team. Spectator tickets are sold separately.

What is HYROX?

HYROX is an indoor fitness race with the same format everywhere, so your time in Bangkok can be compared with London or Hong Kong. You run 1 km, then complete a workout station, eight times over:

  1. 1,000 m SkiErg
  2. Sled push
  3. Sled pull
  4. 80 m burpee broad jumps
  5. 1,000 m row
  6. 200 m farmers carry
  7. 100 m sandbag lunges
  8. 100 wall balls

That is 8 km of running plus eight stations. You can race solo (Open or the heavier Pro division), as doubles, or in a relay team of four. Most first-timers take between 1 hour 15 minutes and 2 hours. Doubles is the friendliest way to start: you both run every kilometre, but share the station work.

Other fitness races in Bangkok and Thailand

DEKA FIT Bangkok (31 October to 1 November 2026)

DEKA, the functional fitness race series from the Spartan family, holds its first Thai event at Siam Paragon (BTS Siam). The DEKA FIT format is 5 km of running split around 10 functional fitness zones, with an average finish time of around 50 minutes. Entries have been listed from 2,900 THB. It is shorter and a bit less punishing than HYROX, which makes it a good first race.

Spartan Race in Thailand

Spartan obstacle races have been held across Thailand, in Chiang Mai, Khao Yai, Hua Hin and Pattaya. The big one is coming: the Spartan Super World Championship is set for 11-13 December 2026 at Singha Park, Chiang Rai, with a 10K Super course in rolling hills and jungle trail, plus Trifecta options and kids' races for those who are not elite athletes. Thai dates for 2027 had not been announced at the time of writing, so check the official Spartan Thailand site.

Spartan formats you will see:

  • Sprint: around 5 km with about 20 obstacles.
  • Super: around 10 km with about 25 obstacles.
  • Beast: around 21 km, for experienced racers.
  • Kids: 1 to 3 km courses.

Tough Mudder and other obstacle races

Thailand's first licensed Tough Mudder took place in May 2026 at Wisdom Valley in Chonburi, near Pattaya, with 5K and 15K courses. It is more of a team challenge than a timed race. Smaller local obstacle and mud runs pop up through the year, often around Pattaya, Khao Yai and Kanchanaburi, and they are fun introductions to the sport.

Where to train for HYROX in Bangkok

HYROX training has spread fast among Bangkok gyms. A few that advertise official HYROX affiliation or dedicated classes:

  • BASE Bangkok: describes itself as an official HYROX gym, with daily HYROX classes, race simulations and multi-week race-prep programmes.
  • Arena Bangkok: a CrossFit and HYROX training club near MRT Phetchaburi.
  • Training Ground: a functional gym near BTS Phra Khanong, listed as a HYROX partner gym.
  • Elite Fight Club and other functional gyms: listed in HYROX gym directories; check the official HYROX gym finder to confirm current status.

Many big chains and CrossFit boxes also have SkiErgs, rowers, sleds and wall balls. Drop-in classes at specialist gyms usually cost from a few hundred baht, with monthly memberships much higher. Ask for a trial class before committing.

How to train for your first HYROX

  • Run tired. The hardest part is running 1 km immediately after a sled push or wall balls. Practise "compromised runs": a hard station, then straight into a run.
  • Get strong twice a week. Squats, lunges, deadlifts and loaded carries matter more than in road racing.
  • Learn the machines. Good SkiErg and rowing technique saves a lot of energy.
  • Keep your aerobic base. Easy runs still decide most of your time. Running with a club helps; find one on runclubbangkok.com or check our Bangkok running races calendar for tune-up 5Ks and 10Ks.
  • Do a simulation four to six weeks out, ideally a full or half race at your gym.

Practical tips for race day

  • Check your wave time and arrive at least an hour early. BITEC halls are huge and check-in queues can be long.
  • Take the BTS. Bang Na station is right by BITEC, and Bang Na traffic at rush hour is notoriously slow.
  • Wear grippy shoes suited to both running and sled work; avoid super-soft racing shoes.
  • Hydrate. Indoor halls in Bangkok can still be warm and humid.
  • Respect the judges. No-reps for short lunges or wall balls are common; finish the rep cleanly.
  • Watch others first. Spectating a day before your wave is the best preparation you can get.

Fitness racing fits nicely with Bangkok's wider sports scene. If you want a racket sport on rest days, read our guide to padel in Bangkok, or look at muay thai for a different kind of conditioning. For a wider weekend plan, see weekend sports in Bangkok.
