In this guide
Silom nightlife packs more into a few hundred metres than almost anywhere else in Bangkok. Within walking distance of BTS Sala Daeng you'll find the city's best-known LGBTQ+ bar streets, the Patpong night market and its go-go bars, a cluster of house and techno venues, and some of Asia's most famous rooftop bars. Silom is also one of Bangkok's designated late-night zones, so licensed venues can stay open until 4:00. For other areas, see our Bangkok nightlife guide.
This guide walks you through the area street by street, with what to expect, when to go and how to avoid the few traps. For dated parties and shows, see the Silom & Sathorn area page and nightlife events.
Last checked: October 2026. Soi 4 in particular sees bars open, close and rename often. Check before you go.
Getting there and getting home
- BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Silom are at the Rama 4 end of Silom Road, a minute's walk from Soi 2, Soi 4 and Patpong.
- BTS Chong Nonsi is the stop for Decho Road and King Power Mahanakhon.
- BTS Saphan Taksin is the stop for lebua and the riverside.
The trains stop around midnight. After that, use Grab or Bolt; taxis waiting outside Patpong often refuse the meter, so walk a block away before hailing one.
Silom Soi 4: bars on the pavement
Silom Soi 4 is a short lane where bars put their tables and stools on the pavement and the crowd watches the street. It has been the heart of Bangkok's gay scene for decades and is now a mixed, friendly street that welcomes everyone: gay, lesbian, trans, straight, local and visiting. It gets going after about 21:00 and peaks around midnight at weekends.
What to know in 2026:
- Several bars have changed hands. Telephone Pub, a long-time landmark, closed during the pandemic and the space is now Circus.
- Pride Bar and Restaurant on Soi 4 is also home to Pride Thailand's organisers and has live music.
- The Stranger Bar is the street's drag venue, with shows later in the evening (entry recently listed at 400 THB including two drinks).
- House of HEALS, the bar of drag queen Pangina Heals, hosts drag shows most nights except Tuesdays.
- Horn, opened in March 2025, runs queer techno and house nights from Thursday to Saturday.

Silom Soi 2: the dance clubs
One soi along, Silom Soi 2 has ID checks at the door and the big gay dance clubs, led by DJ Station, plus others such as G Bangkok. They fill up after midnight, with drag and cabaret shows at some venues, and on weekends often run until around 3:00. Bring ID; you must be 20 or over.
Patpong: night market and go-go bars
Patpong is two parallel lanes between Silom and Surawong roads. In the evening, a night market fills the middle of Patpong 1 with stalls selling souvenirs, clothes and copy goods, typically from about 18:00 to midnight. Bargain politely; first prices are high.

Around the market are go-go bars and a few pubs. The single most important tip: ignore anyone offering a "show" upstairs. These touts lead to bars where the bill is inflated, sometimes with heavies at the door. If you go into any bar, check drink prices before you order and pay as you go.
Patpong is also home to some ordinary pubs and restaurants that have been there for decades, and the area is busy with tourists and families browsing the market, so it feels lively rather than threatening.
Decho Road: house and techno
West of Silom Road, Decho Road and the streets around it are where much of Bangkok's electronic music happens:
- Fuchsia is a multi-floor venue, open nightly to about 3:00, hosting techno nights, hip-hop, drag and themed parties.
- Mustache, one of the city's longest-running house and techno brands, programmes melodic techno and international guests; it has moved venue several times, so check its page for the current address.
- Subwerk hard techno nights (no tables, no dress code) have also moved recently.
- Elsewhere, a 58-capacity listening room on the ninth floor of the Trinity Complex, books deep, minimal DJs on Fridays and Saturdays until about 4:00.
Our Bangkok clubs guide has more.
Rooftops and cocktail bars
Silom and Sathorn hold some of the city's most famous high-rise bars:
- Sky Bar and Sirocco on the 63rd floor of lebua at State Tower, near BTS Saphan Taksin. Strict dress code and top-end prices.
- Sky Beach, 78 floors up King Power Mahanakhon, the highest bar in the city. SkyWalk ticket before about 19:00, cover charge after.
- Scarlett at Pullman Bangkok Hotel G and Yao at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse are calmer, cheaper options.
- Vertigo and Moon Bar at Banyan Tree on Sathorn are closed for renovation until 2 December 2026, according to the hotel.
For cocktails at street level: Bar Sathorn in W Bangkok's 1889 mansion (No. 17 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026), Vesper on Convent Road (No. 56 on the extended list), and Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar on Maha Set Road (No. 76). See our rooftop guide and cocktail bar guide.

Pride and LGBTQ+ events
Bangkok Pride takes over the city each June with a parade and a month of events, and Silom's bars host parties throughout. Since Thailand's marriage equality law took effect in January 2025, celebrations have grown larger. Outside June, Soi 4 and Soi 2 venues run regular drag shows and themed nights. Watch nightlife events and the calendar for dates.

Eating in Silom at night
Silom's street food is at its best in the evening. Stalls set up along Silom Road and around Sala Daeng, and the sois between Silom and Sathorn have plenty of late kitchens. Convent Road and Soi Sala Daeng are good for a sit-down meal before the bars.
A sample Silom night
- 17:30 Sunset at Sky Beach or Sky Bar.
- 19:30 Dinner around Sala Daeng or Convent Road.
- 21:00 Browse the Patpong night market.
- 22:30 Drinks on Silom Soi 4; a drag show at The Stranger Bar or House of HEALS.
- Late: Dance on Soi 2, or head to Decho Road for techno until 3:00 or 4:00.
FAQ
Is Silom Soi 4 only for gay visitors?
No. Soi 4 is the heart of Bangkok's LGBTQ+ scene, but the bars welcome everyone. Be respectful and enjoy it.
What time does Silom nightlife close?
Silom is a designated zone, so venues with an extended-hours permit can stay open until 4:00. Many bars close at 2:00, and Soi 2 clubs often go to around 3:00. Full rules are in our closing times guide.
Is Patpong safe?
The market is busy and generally fine. The risk is the "upstairs show" touts, which lead to inflated bills. Ignore them and check prices before ordering anywhere.
How do I get to Silom Soi 4?
Take the BTS to Sala Daeng or the MRT to Silom. Soi 4 is a short walk along Silom Road.
When is Bangkok Pride?
Bangkok Pride is held in June each year, with the parade and related events across the month.
